Escape from Custody The FBI's Atlanta Field Office is assisting the United States Marshals Service with the search for Arthur Lee Cofield. Cofield is wanted for escaping from the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI) Jesup, located in Jesup, Georgia, on the afternoon of May 26, 2026. He was there serving a more than 11-year-sentence after being convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Bank Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft in 2024. On May 27, 2026, Cofield was charged with Escape from Custody in the United States District Court, Southern District of Georgia, Brunswick, Georgia, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest.
